Fifth CICF
On Nov. 17-18, 2007, co-sponsored by the World Bank, State Information Center , the International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission, Publicity and Education Center of the Ministry of Land and Resources, and Chengdu Municipal People's Government, the Fifth China Investment Climate Forum was held in Chengdu . The forum, featuring the theme of “Government Innovation, Urban-Rural Overall Planning and Urban Competitiveness,” aims to discuss the interrelationships between government innovation, urban-rural overall planning and urban competitiveness, examine the channels and obstacles in government innovation from its strategy formulation to implementation, analyze the role of government innovation in improving investment climate, attracting investment, enhancing urban competitiveness and contributing to economic growth.
Mme. Uyunqimg, Vice-Chairwoman of the Standing Committee of National People's Congress, declared the Forum open and delivered a talk. Mr. Jiang Jufeng, Governor of Sichuan Province, and Mr. James W. Adams, Vice-President of the World Bank delivered opening speeches. The distinguished guests included officials from Policy Research Office of the CPC Central Committee, National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Land and Resources, People's Bank of China, State Administration of Taxation; famous domestic and international experts including Nobel Laureate Mr. Robert Mondale, and representatives from several municipal governments and well-known domestic and international enterprises, which total over 300 participants.
