The venue of the Second China Investment Climate Forum |
On Nov. 15, 2003, co-sponsored by Hunan Provincial People's Government , the World Bank and State Information Center , the Second China Investment Climate Forum, which featured the theme “Financing and Development of Private Enterprises,” was held in Changsha , Hunan Province. Leaders and experts from National Development and Reform Commission, People's Bank of China and relevant ministries and commissions attended the Forum, and delivered speeches specifically on macroeconomic trends, monetary policies and private economy development. Mr. David Dollar, Director of the World Bank's Research Department, announced its study report entitled Improving City Competitiveness through the Investment Climate: Ranking 23 Chinese Cities. On the basis of the survey in 2002, the Report constructed, across macro, mezzo and micro levels, a more comprehensive assessment system, and provided detailed explanations and suggestions with regard to each city's advantages and potentials, which received high attention from various circles.
